SUMMARY:FFB Week 40 - Crowdsource Data and the BEAD State Challenge Process
DESCRIPTION:Broadband offices are busy preparing for their own state challenge process to determine where BEAD funding will be directed. There are unserved areas that all can agree on but others where there is stark disagreement regarding the level of service provided to consumers. Local governments\, nonprofits and ISPs will have the opportunity to work with state broadband offices to target communities that the FCC’s map may have misclassified. Crowdsource speed testing will play an important role\, particularly with states that are developing their own criteria for determining grant eligibility\, as allowed within NTIA rules. \nWebinar Presenter: \nBryan Darr\, Vice President – Government Affairs\, Ookla \nBryan Darr is the Vice-President of Government Affairs at Ookla\, spearheading the company’s programs for federal\, state and local governments. He also leads Ookla’s advocacy efforts with lawmakers and policy organizations\, promoting the value of crowdsourced intelligence to help with better data-driven decisioning. \nBryan has spent most of his professional life in the wireless industry\, beginning his career in cellular as a sales representative for Cellular One of Memphis in 1985. After discovering his customers were having difficulty traveling with their phones\, he founded Mosaik in 1988 (originally branded as American Roamer) and began developing consumer roaming guides. Soon\, Mosaik was researching and designing mobile operator coverage maps enabling them to market the reach of their mobile networks. In June 2018\, Mosaik was acquired by Ookla. \nBryan has served on many industry committees during his career. He currently serves on CTIA’s Smart Cities Steering Committee and the Wireless History Foundation’s Board of Directors. \n  \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FBA Presents - Transitioning Your Fiber Infrastructure from Build to Run: Maximizing Efficiency with Field Service Management Software
DESCRIPTION:In the wake of the substantial infrastructure funding allocated by the Biden administration\, the telecommunications industry is experiencing a surge in fiber optic network expansion. Operators are rightfully focused on the critical task of building and constructing the necessary fiber infrastructure to meet growing connectivity demands. However\, it’s equally essential to look ahead at the long term – consider fiber drops\, end-customers’ requests and maintenance demands that will inevitably (and hopefully in the case of end-customers installs) arise once the fiber has been laid. \nThis is where our upcoming webinar comes into play. Join us as we explore the proactive approach of integrating advanced field service management software into your operations – from deployment all the way through to run phase. We’ll delve into how this technology can help telecom operators optimize efficiency from day one\, ensuring that maintenance and service demands are met seamlessly. Don’t miss this opportunity to stay ahead of the curve in the evolving landscape of fiber optic network management and maintenance from a field perspective. \nWebinar Speakers \nCédric Venard\, General Manager\, Praxedo North America \nCédric serves as the General Manager at Praxedo\, a SaaS solution for Field Service Management. With over 15 years of experience in software solutions for service teams\, Cédric leverages his expertise to guide companies with field technicians in their digital transformation journeys. As the leader of a team of sales\, marketing and implementation specialists based in Chicago and Montréal\, Cédric makes sure the customer’s needs are put at the center of Praxedo’s value proposition. \nClaire Kelly\, Customer Onboarding Specialist\, Praxedo North America \nWith her years of experience\, Claire has come to understand the intricate needs of ISPs and NSPs and aims to help optimize and streamline their scheduling\, dispatch\, and work order management through software.a \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FFB Week 41 - Fiber is Preferred by Nearly Two Thirds of All Internet Users
DESCRIPTION:Based on the most recent FBA/ RVA consumer research study\, the desire for high quality broadband has never been stronger.  In addition\, the preference for fiber broadband versus other types continues to grow.   Fiber wins in terms of recent churn\, NPS scores\, and high likelihood of switching if available.  Perhaps most importantly\, fiber is rated the very best Internet delivery method overall by nearly two thirds of all users and rated best by users of all types of Internet delivery.  This preference combined with strong fiber deployment means the market share gains of Fiber are likely to continue – with fiber likely becoming the most used Internet delivery method within a few years. \nWebinar Presenter: \nMichael Render\, CEO and Principal Analyst\, RVA LLC Market Research and Consulting \nMichael Render is CEO and Principal Analyst at RVA LLC Market Research and Consulting based in Tulsa.\nRender has been a partner with the Fiber Broadband Association since 2002 and is generally known as North America’s premier market research expert tracking fiber optic broadband deployment and consumer attitudes to broadband. He has assisted some of the world’s largest telecom corporations\, individual communities\, and the FCC. \n  \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FFB Week 43 - Tribal Broadband Opportunities and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Tribal lands have traditionally had less access to high-speed broadband than the rest of America. While roughly 15% of Americans don’t have access to high-speed broadband\, this increases to over 35% in tribal lands. The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program under NTIA sets aside $3B for deployment and adoption of broadband in Tribal Lands. Many tribes have already won grants under this program and a new Notice of Funding Opportunity is out now with submission deadline in January 2024 with a budget of $1B. This webinar will answer some of your questions about the TBCP program and will reflect on the advantages of having fiber in your tribal lands. \nGuest Presenters:\n• Sachin Gupta\, Director of Government Business and Economic Development\, Centranet\n• Robert Griffin\, Tribal Broadband coordinator\, The Choctaw Nation Government Division \nSachin Gupta and Robert Griffin\, both seasoned professionals in the technology and telecommunications industry\, bring a wealth of expertise to their respective roles. Sachin Gupta\, with 18 years of experience in product management\, business development\, and marketing\, has a proven track record of advocating for smart defense and security solutions\, engaging with government officials globally\, and speaking at conferences on technical\, legislative\, and regulatory issues. Robert Griffin\, a Choctaw Nation member\, has spent over two decades designing\, implementing\, and managing technology solutions for various organizations\, including tribal\, federal\, and state governments\, commercial enterprises\, and Fortune 500 carriers. Together\, their combined expertise and dedication make them invaluable assets in their respective fields. \n  \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FBA Presents - Central Office and Hut Design\, from Entrance Splice to System Grounding
DESCRIPTION:Significant changes are being made to fiber architectures. The combination of internet services\, video\, telephony\, smart grid\, wireless and myriad new applications onto fiber optic cabling makes it increasingly valuable to purposefully architect the fiber infrastructure within central office and middle mile enclosures and huts. This advanced planning is useful to ensure that the fiber cable plant that is installed has the maximum flexibility to support many applications and partnerships\, even those that are unknown when the system is installed. \nThis webinar will follow a certified expert in fiber optic network infrastructure design as he walks through the process to plan and design a central office\, equipment hut or data center applications according to best practices and industry standards. Project management\, engineering and installation professionals within Internet Service Providers\, Engineering design firms and Construction firms will find valuable considerations for the design\, installation and support of a fiber optic cable plant\, and they are encouraged to attend. \nWebinar Speaker \nBrett Swett is a Technical Systems Engineer for Panduit’s network infrastructure business\, supporting the south central United States. He has decades of experience in telecommunications system design. As a TSE at Panduit\, he helps customers develop their strategy and design to simplify fiber optic communication systems deployment in applications ranging from small regional huts to large and complex data centers. \n  \n \n \n Register Now
