SUMMARY:FFB Week 36 - Addressing All Barriers to Digital Equity
DESCRIPTION:Fiber buildout throughout the United States will not solve the digital divide alone. Though high-speed internet access is essential\, we will only see success if we acknowledge and address non-deployment barriers. Inclusion must be built in from the beginning\, not as an afterthought. Angela Siefer presents NDIA’s (potentially blasphemous) position in the fiber community and why implementing people-first digital inclusion solutions will be key to closing the digital divide. \nWebinar Presenter: Angela Siefer\, Executive Director\, National Digital Inclusion Alliance \nAngela founded the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) in 2015. Since 1997\, she has been working in digital inclusion – she helped set up computer labs and digital inclusion programs in underserved areas\, managed broadband conferences\, conducted research\, built a nationwide digital equity ecosystem\, and testified multiple times before Congress. As the executive director of NDIA\, Angela leads the digital inclusion movement and community of 1\,400 affiliate organizations in 50\nstates\, DC\, and territories. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Schools\, Health\, & Libraries Broadband Coalition. Government Technology Magazine named Angela in their “Top 25 Doers\, Dreams\, and Drivers” of 2019\, and she received the United Church of Christ’s Parker Award in 2021. Google.org named Angela one of seven global “Leaders to Watch” in 2023. \n  \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FFB Week 38 - Quantum Technology Series – What It Is and Why It Will (Soon!) Matter
DESCRIPTION:Quantum\, the science that Einstein described as “spooky action at a distance”\, is making headlines globally as researchers\, scientists and product developers rush to bring powerful practical applications to bear. \nJoin us for this six-part webinar series to explore emerging applications such as quantum computing\, quantum networking\, and quantum security. Sponsored by quantum networking company Qubitekk. \n  \n \n____________________ \n  \nIn this first session\, you’ll learn the basic differences between classical and quantum technologies\, what capabilities quantum is likely to usher in\, and who stands to benefit the most from tools that are estimated to offer $1.3 trillion in value by 2035. \nWebinar Presenter: \nDr. Duncan Earl. Co-Founder\, President and Chief Technology Officer at quantum networking company Qubitekk \nDr. Duncan Earl\, physicist and founder of quantum networking company Qubitekk\, spent nearly 20 years conducting energy and defense-related research and development at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the fields of quantum sources\, quantum computing and quantum cryptography. Today Earl’s focus lies squarely in applying his findings toward building quantum networks\, critical precursors to the coming quantum-enabled internet. \nA nationally recognized pioneer in the field of practical quantum applications\, Earl holds numerous patents\, has served on steering committees for organizations including QED-C and NIST and frequently advises policymakers about quantum networking solutions to some of the country’s foremost challenges. \n  \n \n \n Register Now
