SUMMARY:FBA Presents - FBA Inaugural Fiber Deployment Cost Survey Results – Assessing the Landscape Ahead of BEAD
DESCRIPTION:The Fiber Broadband Association and Cartesian are proud to release the findings from our inaugural Fiber Deployment Study. \nThe next five to ten years will be the most critical in broadband infrastructure as we look to accomplish the ambitious goal of delivering high speed internet access to all Americans. Central to this mission are the public and private investments that are fueling historic levels of deployment. The largest of these – the Broadband\, Equity\, Access\, and Deployment (BEAD) Program – dedicates $42.45B to the effort. This year\, we’ll start to see BEAD funds flow through state broadband offices to subgrantee winners. \nAs we enter this next phase in building broadband infrastructure\, it’s more important than ever to understand the detail behind construction costs. Better insight into the cost of fiber deployment will help industry and policymakers to realize the full potential of fiber broadband and reach the greatest number of people. \nJoin us Wednesday January 24th at 11am ET as we present the key findings from our Fiber Deployment Study. Topics include: \n\nOverall range of deployment costs for aerial and underground construction\nTypical breakdown between the cost of labor and materials and the distribution of each\nImpact of deployment-related factors on deployment cost\, such as population density\, terrain\, and construction method\nHow deployment costs changed last year and the reasons behind this change\nOutlook for costs in the coming year and predictions on which cost drivers will be the most significant\n\nThanks to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this study. \nPresented by:\nMichael Dargue\, Vice President\, Cartesian\nMeg Corriveau\, Consultant – Strategy & Analytics\, Cartesian \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FBA Presents - 12 Seconds to Impact | Using Microlearning To Reduce Risk Normalization
DESCRIPTION:Working on or near the roadway every day\, you become normalized to the risks involved. We’ll review a real-life risk normalization scenario by watching an incident video. We discuss how we use our employee communication app to deliver compliance-based microlearnings to a dispersed workforce\, publishing lessons designed to improve employee safety behaviors. The microlearning safety training program achieved a 91% conversion rate upon a voluntary rollout. \nOur presentation will pull back the curtain to examine how we have advanced our safety training with microlearning over past year and a half. We show how this innovative type of learning promotes a culture of safety. We share best practices on evolving a voluntary program of targeted learning modules to include mandatory lessons\, promotional prerequisites\, training on infrequent tasks\, and an overhaul of our driver certification. \nPresented by: \nLuke Lazar\, Vice President Of Risk And Safety\, CSP\, Flagger Force\nTamara Palmer\, Internal Communications Manager\, Flagger Force \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FBA Presents - Trusted Fiber White Paper: Help Protect Our Nation’s Critical Broadband Infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:Join the Fiber Broadband Association to explore the “Measures to Define and Deploy Trusted Fiber” white paper\, published by FBA’s Trusted Fiber Working Group\, that outlines recommended measures to advance the deployment of fiber in the U.S. The whitepaper provides a complete checklist of critical factors that service providers and government purchasers can leverage to ensure the fiber they are procuring is\, in fact\, “trusted.” \nWhile the fiber broadband industry has embraced quality standards and improved performance specifications over the years to create a well-deserved reputation for long-term reliability\, global fiber standards specify only minimum levels of performance. The Trusted Fiber white paper makes suggestions for higher levels of performance beyond global standards and provides background on important guidelines that fiber purchasers should consider to ensure that the fiber they are procuring is trusted. The Trusted Fiber report contains recommendations in the following critical categories: \n• Fiber Quality\, Reliability\, and Long-Term Performance\n• National Security\n• Corporate Governance\n• Dumping and Subsidies\n• Labor and Worker Rights\n• Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FFB Week 12 - AARP's Advocacy for Affordable Broadband and Life After ACP
DESCRIPTION:With the digital divide disproportionately effecting older Americans\, AARP is a vocal advocate for ubiquitous affordable\, reliable\, broadband access and fought for the Affordable Connectivity Program. According to AARP research\, as of November 2023\, nearly half of households enrolled in ACP were headed by adults over 50 years old. As the end of ACP looms\, many who rely on the program fear they will lose vital internet access. \nThis week on Fiber for Breakfast\, we are joined by Coralette Hannon\, Director of Livable Communities for AARP Government Affairs. Coralette will discuss AARP’s broadband advocacy efforts\, the organizations push for ACP\, and how the end of ACP will impact the older adult community. \nSpecial Guest: \nCoralette Hannon\, Director of Livable Communities for AARP Government Affairs \n \n \n Register Now
