SUMMARY:FBA Presents - A New Digital Walkout Process for Faster Basemap Creation
DESCRIPTION:With the latest round of BEAD funding available for fiber installation\, speed to deployment has never been more important. For broadband providers like you\, the key to securing funding lies in demonstrating your ability to complete broadband installations efficiently and on (or ahead of!) schedule. In this webinar\, AirWorks will present how their software is already helping firms go from delivering 3 miles/day to delivering 17+ miles/day. This new digital walkout process\, which combines aerial\, LiDAR and other data collection methods with automated strand mapping powered by AI\, is up to 6 times faster and allows firms to use resources more efficiently in a difficult labor market. \nThis presentation will provide attendees with an in-depth understanding of how they can deliver more projects faster by relying on tools and technology like AirWorks to win more bids and position themselves as market leaders as more and more funding becomes available in coming years. \n  \nWebinar Presenter \nAdam Kersnowski – Co-founder & Chief Evangelist at AirWorks \nAdam has 15 years of experience in both construction and data collection\, having owned two successful businesses in the past: Model Masonry & Tile and Fly4.me. As Chief Evangelist\, Adam leads client success\, account expansion\, as well as business development and partnerships. He has a passion for all things data collection and remote sensing and holds a BS from University of Southern Maine. \n  \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FFB Week 36 - Addressing All Barriers to Digital Equity
DESCRIPTION:Fiber buildout throughout the United States will not solve the digital divide alone. Though high-speed internet access is essential\, we will only see success if we acknowledge and address non-deployment barriers. Inclusion must be built in from the beginning\, not as an afterthought. Since 1997\, she has been working in digital inclusion – she helped set up computer labs and digital inclusion programs in underserved areas\, managed broadband conferences\, conducted research\, built a nationwide digital equity ecosystem\, and testified multiple times before Congress. As the executive director of NDIA\, Angela leads the digital inclusion movement and community of 1\,400 affiliate organizations in 50\nstates\, DC\, and territories. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Schools\, Health\, & Libraries Broadband Coalition. Government Technology Magazine named Angela in their “Top 25 Doers\, Dreams\, and Drivers” of 2019\, and she received the United Church of Christ’s Parker Award in 2021. Google.org named Angela one of seven global “Leaders to Watch” in 2023. \n  \n \n \n Register Now

SUMMARY:FFB Week 40 - Crowdsource Data and the BEAD State Challenge Process
DESCRIPTION:Broadband offices are busy preparing for their own state challenge process to determine where BEAD funding will be directed. There are unserved areas that all can agree on but others where there is stark disagreement regarding the level of service provided to consumers. Local governments\, nonprofits and ISPs will have the opportunity to work with state broadband offices to target communities that the FCC’s map may have misclassified. Crowdsource speed testing will play an important role\, particularly with states that are developing their own criteria for determining grant eligibility\, as allowed within NTIA rules. \nWebinar Presenter: \nBryan Darr\, Vice President – Government Affairs\, Ookla \nBryan Darr is the Vice-President of Government Affairs at Ookla\, spearheading the company’s programs for federal\, state and local governments. After discovering his customers were having difficulty traveling with their phones\, he founded Mosaik in 1988 (originally branded as American Roamer) and began developing consumer roaming guides. Soon\, Mosaik was researching and designing mobile operator coverage maps enabling them to market the reach of their mobile networks. In June 2018\, Mosaik was acquired by Ookla. \nBryan has served on many industry committees during his career. He currently serves on CTIA’s Smart Cities Steering Committee and the Wireless History Foundation’s Board of Directors. \n  \n \n \n Register Now
