Fremont, April 15, 2025. R&M, the globally active Swiss developer and provider of high-end infrastructure solutions for data and communications networks, has added a new family of intelligent power distribution units (PDUs) for high-power servers to its range and presented it for the first time in March at Data Centre World 2025 in London.

The power distribution unit from R&M is called «ActiPower AI». It was developed to safeguard the power supply of IT end devices in racks even more precisely. It is suitable for critical IT infrastructures and sensitive data center environments, such as high-power computing and AI clusters.

Real-time analysis of electrical parameters

The ActiPower AI connector strip from R&M contains built-in intelligence for real-time analysis of power quality.

With the help of the built-in intelligence, ActiPower AI analyzes all critical parameters in real time, especially the harmonics and harmonic distortion of power and voltage. Inadequate power quality, dangerous electrical fluctuations, and failures can thus be detected immediately and precisely. Operators can react in a targeted manner to avoid critical loads, overheating, or failures of IT equipment.

ActiPower AI provides data centers with the highest availability of analysis data, the most intelligent power monitoring, and the most secure power distribution, with real-time accuracy of 1.0% for racks.

The ActiPower AI is equipped with power-efficient switching relays, an alarm function, hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers, cascadable multi-sensor ports, and an OLED monitor. It is configured for operating temperatures of up to 60°C. R&M combines C13, C15, C1,9 and C21 sockets in a patented and standard-compliant IEX+ socket. The PDU thus supports all common types of connection cable connectors for high-power applications.
