Charlotte Magazine Names Brightspeed a Winner of the Charlotte Metro Area Top Workplace 2025
Recognition Earned Through an Independent Employee Feedback Survey
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – October 20, 2025 – Brightspeed, the nation’s third-largest fiber builder and provider of the country’s fastest internet service, as determined by HighSpeedInternet.com’s Annual Service Provider Review 2025, and headquartered in Charlotte, today announced it was awarded Charlotte Magazine’s Top Workplaces 2025 honor.
“At Brightspeed, our employees aren’t just part of the journey, they’re helping lead it,” said Brightspeed Chief People and Administrative Officer Colon McLean. “We’re proud that so many of our employees have chosen to grow with us and help shape the future of Brightspeed. This recognition reflects their commitment and their belief in our mission to bring high speed internet service to rural communities that have lacked access to quality, reliable connectivity.”
This list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The confidential survey uniquely measures the employee experience and its component themes, including employees feeling respected and supported, enabled to grow and Empowered to Execute, to name a few.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
Brightspeed has a service territory encompassing more than 7.3 million locations in mainly rural and suburban communities across the Midwest, Southeast, and parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In its home state of North Carolina, Brightspeed is the proud recipient of more than $244 million in broadband grants awarded by the N.C. Department of Information Technology’s (NCDIT) Division of Broadband and Digital Equity under the state’s Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) and Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) programs, as well as nearly $91 million in Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) grant funding.* These grants will enable Brightspeed to connect nearly 122,000 North Carolina households and businesses to its blazing fast network, bringing Brightspeed’s total commitment to its home state to approximately 1.1 million fiber-enabled locations.
