How Artificial Intelligence is Changing Network Infrastructure
With expertise and suitable connectivity solutions, R&M is supporting the transition to AI-capable data centers.
Fremont, October 20, 2025. R&M, the globally active Swiss developer and provider of high-end infrastructure solutions for data and communications networks, is taking a look behind the scenes of artificial intelligence (AI). In the latest specialist magazine CONNECTIONS, readers learn about the impact AI is having on data centers. Users often do not even know which infrastructures are required to work with popular AI applications on a PC or smartphone.
Companies need to be aware of some fundamental differences from traditional infrastructures before they install AI clusters in their data centers. This is explained by R&M in the magazine CONNECTIONS 69, which is available for download here.
For example, the demand for fiber optic connections for training AI applications is exploding. This is because never before has so much data had to be transported in parallel in real time over such short distances between so many processors. Every millimeter of cable extends the transmission time and thus expensive turnaround time. Heat, weight and power supply for the switches and processors are added to the dense networks.
No traditional planning
«If companies want to make their data centers «AI-ready», it is important to say goodbye to traditional planning approaches. Even when it comes to just a few racks, AI capability has different requirements,» writes Andreas Rüsseler, CMO at R&M.
In addition, R&M reports in its specialist magazine on innovative optical transmission technology that supports AI infrastructures. R&M presents a new generation of fiber optic connectivity and new power distribution units. These are tailored to the requirements of AI infrastructures in cloud and company data centers.
For the first time, R&M is also providing information about a cabling solution for the radio data transmission of the future in its CONNECTIONS magazine. This involves the use of Wi-Fi 6/7 and 5G in buildings. Conventional copper cabling will hardly be sufficient to provide adequate transmission performance at the antennas in the building. R&M has developed a hybrid copper/fiber optic solution for this purpose.
Numerous other news stories and trend features as well as case studies round out the offering for readers. We wish you an inspiring read.
