UTOPIA Fiber Builds on Utah Momentum in 2025, Completing Partnership Early and Adding Over 1 Million Feet of Network
Murray, UTAH (April 15, 2026) – UTOPIA Fiber today released its 2025 year-in-review results, reporting more than 1 million feet of new conduit and fiber laid in Utah, continued subscriber growth, and the completion of Bountiful Fiber one year ahead of schedule. As the nation’s largest and most successful Open Access fiber network, UTOPIA Fiber now serves more than 67,000 subscribers across 20 Utah member cities and through its operational partnership with Bountiful City, reflecting increasing demand for community-owned fiber infrastructure and competitive internet service options.
“Completing Bountiful Fiber ahead of schedule and continuing to grow statewide shows what’s possible when communities invest in fiber infrastructure,” said Roger Timmerman, Executive Director of UTOPIA Fiber. “Demand remains strong because residents and businesses want fast, reliable service and the freedom to choose who provides it.”
In 2025, UTOPIA Fiber added more than 1 million feet to its Utah network, including over 1 million feet of underground conduit and fiber-optic cable. Crews also placed 13,728 feet of aerial strand and installed 3,331 handholes.
Completed ahead of schedule in May 2025, Bountiful Fiber was the only network build finished last year, following a multi-year stretch of citywide deployments, including five cities in 2023 and West Haven City in 2024. The Bountiful Fiber network is owned by Bountiful City and operated by UTOPIA Fiber.
While 2024 saw higher total construction volume, 2025 highlighted how quickly infrastructure investment can translate into full city completion and continued subscriber growth.

“In many Utah neighborhoods, residents have had only one internet provider or no fiber option at all,” said Nicole Cottle, Deputy Director, UTOPIA Fiber. “Our model changes that by introducing real competition. Multiple providers compete on price, service, and support, and when customers call, they’re talking to people in their own communities. That accountability raises the standard for service.”
UTOPIA Fiber maintains a Net Promoter Score of 60 and a 4.6 rating on Google, reflecting sustained customer satisfaction as the network continues to grow.
UTOPIA Fiber’s Open Access structure separates the publicly owned fiber infrastructure from retail internet service. Multiple private-sector ISPs compete over the same network, allowing customers to select the provider that best meets their needs.
