HBC Delivers the Fastest Internet in Southeast Minnesota with 5 Gig Speeds
Flight Fiber. Built for Speed. Built for What’s Next.

Winona, Minn. — February 17, 2026 — Hiawatha Broadband Communications (HBC), a Minnesota-based broadband provider serving residential and business customers, expands access to its multi-gig Flight Fiber Internet service. HBC is the only broadband provider in the region capable of delivering symmetrical multi-gig fiber speeds up to 5 Gig.

Building on years of fiber investment, HBC is expanding symmetrical multi-gig speeds and now provides 2 Gig and 5 Gig options across its service area. The 2026 deployments currently underway will bring multi-gig fiber to communities such as Winona, Red Wing, Lake City, Farmington, Hastings, and Empire.

HBC’s multi-gig fiber will make customers’ home internet feel instant – apps load fast, streaming starts immediately, and downloads don’t drag on. With more speed and capacity for everyone at once, it delivers smoother video calls, faster uploads, better gaming, and the reliability to keep every device connected.

“HBC isn’t about chasing speed records — we’re about making sure our communities are ready for what comes next. We live and work in the same towns we serve, so investing in better fiber just makes sense. With scalable multi-gig Flight Fiber, customers across Southeast Minnesota can do more at home and at work, supported by a fiber network built to last,” said Dan Wigger, President and General Manager of Hiawatha Broadband Communications.

Today, multi-gig Flight Fiber Internet is available to nearly 50,000 locations across the five counties HBC serves, supporting residential and business customers, and those investments continue to expand.

All HBC internet services—including multi-gig offerings—are delivered with no data caps, no contracts, and long-term price guarantees. The company’s model emphasizes reinvestment: as more customers connect, HBC continues to expand and enhance its fiber network, supporting reciprocal growth across the communities it serves.

HBC’s Flight Fiber expansion reflects a continued focus on infrastructure, service, and community partnership—today and well into the future. HBC has seven (7) retail walk-in service solution locations, being served by local employees, with a long-standing reputation for network reliability; HBC is Locally Rooted and Future Focused.
