Fiber Broadband Association Applauds Advancement of the Accelerating Broadband Permits Act

JULY 22, 2026 — The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s consideration and markup of the bipartisan Accelerating Broadband Permits Act (S. 4448) introduced by Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Senators John Barrasso (R-WY) and Ben Ray Luján (D-NM).

“The fiber industry stands ready to invest, build, and connect more Americans to fiber broadband, but permitting bottlenecks continue to exacerbate delays and incur added expense even before deployment begins. Providers and manufacturers need a deployment process that is transparent, predictable, and efficient.

The Accelerating Broadband Permits Act provides a critical framework that will bring needed transparency to improve tracking, streamline projects, and enable ongoing efficiencies which is essential for accelerating construction and delivering the reliable, high-capacity networks that will power America’s leadership in AI, next-generation technologies, and economic competitiveness.
