Fiber Broadband Association’s 2027 Regional Workshops Will Land in Eight New Cities

WASHINGTON, D.C.—(October 27, 2026)—The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) today announced the cities and themes for its 2027 Regional Fiber Connect workshops—a series of events created to address real-world challenges and opportunities facing the fiber infrastructure industry, from Fiber-to-the Home to fiber’s use in data center development, Quantum networking, and other emerging industries and enterprises. The workshops pull together fiber infrastructure leaders and regional stakeholders to share strategies for advancing fiber deployment and innovation, best practices, and lessons learned. Agendas feature insights from local network operators, officials, and community anchors, tying each event closely to regional priorities.

FBA’s events help the fiber infrastructure industry navigate two interconnected priorities: extending high-quality broadband to people who still lack access and preparing networks for the next generation of digital applications. Growth in AI, data centers, and edge computing is increasing the importance of high-capacity, low-latency fiber infrastructure. At the same time, permitting, construction costs, workforce readiness, and access to middle-mile networks remain critical considerations in bringing reliable connectivity to more homes and businesses.

“Communities are making infrastructure decisions today that will shape their economic opportunities for decades,” said Jessica Koch, FBA Conference Committee Chair. “Success requires collaboration among operators, policymakers, community leaders, and a skilled workforce. The Regional Fiber Connect workshops bring these groups together to tackle local challenges and build networks that serve today’s needs while creating room for what comes next.”

Each workshop within the 2027 Regional Fiber Connect series focuses on a central theme important to the fiber infrastructure industry and local businesses and communities. The list of 2027 locations and themes include:

  • Washington, DC | February 1-2 | Data Centers, Neocloud
  • Toronto, Ontario | March 22-23 | Canadian Fiber Infrastructure
  • Portland, Maine | April 19-20 | Rural Broadband
  • Madison, Wisconsin | July 12-13 | Construction Innovation
  • Ft. Collins, Colorado | August 23-24 | AI, Quantum, Hyperscale
  • Eugene, Oregon | September 20-21 | Tribal Broadband, Middle Mile
  • New Orleans, Louisiana | October 25-26 | Urban, MDU
  • Austin, Texas | November 17-18 | Inference, Edge

The workshops will also feature a co-located Policy Lab and workforce development workshop in each city. Policy Labs bring together local, state, and federal leaders and policymakers to explore how fiber is powering emerging technologies and supporting connectivity for local communities. Workforce development workshops provide a forum to build technical fiber knowledge and skills.
