FBA Files Comments on Eliminating Barriers to Wireline Deployment

September 21, 2026 — The Fiber Broadband Association (FBA) released the following statement today after filing comments with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on its proceeding to eliminate state and local barriers to wireline deployment:

“FBA’s Members are investing tens of millions of dollars to build and expand high-speed wireline infrastructure. FBA supports the FCC’s efforts to address state and local barriers that can slow or derail planned network builds and establish a more predictable framework for wireline deployment across the country.

“In particular, FBA supports the proposed 120-day framework as an outer limit for reviewing large-scale public rights-of-way access requests, while recognizing that many routine or less complex requests can and should be completed much sooner. Predictable timelines are important for providers coordinating deployments across multiple jurisdictions, where even one delay can disrupt an entire project.”
