FBA Official Statement Regarding Commission’s New Speed Criteria – 3/15/24
“Fiber is the fundamental communications infrastructure for the 21st century, and the Commission’s new speed criteria is a step in the right direction. FBA is hopeful that the Commission will meet its aspirational goal of 1000/500 Mbps to keep up with demand for the speed fiber delivers. The “facts on the ground” show that fiber is the preferred technology for broadband infrastructure and meets the demand for data, which is increasing by 25% annually. Our members’ investments are meeting this market demand – to provide symmetrical, gigabit technology with fiber – in advance of the FCC’s processes.”
