FBA Presents – Fiber Network Design Considerations for Rural BEAD Funded Networks

The NTIAs Broadband Equity Accessibility and Deployment (BEAD) fund is providing $42.45B to help bring high speed internet to all Americans. With the required matching funds and expected overmatch the resulting total investment is estimated to be approximately $61B over the next 5 years.

BEAD funded networks challenge service providers with regulatory, permitting, compliance reporting, and Build America, Buy America requirements.

During this webinar we will explore the following topics:

  1. BEAD funding overview and high-level requirements.
  2. Fiber Network design and cabling options for FTTH, Fixed Wireless, and Middle Mile.
  3. Strengths and limitations of fiber network design and cabling options including centralized splitting, distributed splitting, and distributed tap to meet current and future service provider needs.
  4. Designing to include BEAD requirements, future growth, applications such as AI, and dark fiber.
  5. Build America Buy America requirements and resources.
