TDS celebrates completion of fiber network in Niota with $2K in community donations and celebration

TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS®) invited the entire community of Niota to celebrate the official completion of its all fiber network upgrade. The company marked the milestone with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Athens Chamber of Commerce and local dignitaries. TDS also provided free food and presented $1,000 checks to both the Niota Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Niota Youth Association.

“We are thrilled to be in Niota celebrating TDS’ fiber network. It’s an investment in Niota’s future with more than 1,100 addresses benefiting from future technology today,” said TDS Senior Manager of State Government Affairs Bruce Mottern. “These high-speed broadband services will provide tremendous benefits to the Niota community by delivering reliable world class connections that everyone is looking for.”

The company’s data infrastructure project delivers a range of internet speeds up to 8 Gig and starting at up 300 Mbps. All fiber connections are symmetrical, with identical upload and download speeds. Up to 10 Gig dedicated connections are available to businesses thanks to TDS’ project.

Although the Federal Communications Commission’s Affordable Connectivity Program has ended, TDS continues to offer a low-cost internet option. Called TDS Connect it deliver 200/200 Mbps service over fiber.

“This fiber network and the availability of Gig speeds will attract businesses and jobs, provide better connections for schools, work from home opportunities and better access to health care and entertainment,” said Mottern. “In short, it will improve the quality of life for Niota residents.”
